Preservation of our history is the mission of our Clay County Historical Society & Museum and we need your help. Some of the joys that we have had this year are evidenced in the ability to participate in the creation of a documentary on a little known local Civil War battle with its accompanied exhibit. Donations of family heirlooms document eras from the 1830s to the 1970s and have added to our accumulated knowledge of Clay County.
Have you had the experience of taking someone to the Museum to tour or urging friends to visit us? Did they then thank you for sharing? It gives us joy to share this with others. You not only share our history, but you also support the Museum as well. Preserving history means little if it isn’t presented and shared with the community.
Our Museum is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and receives NO government funding from ANY level—federal, state or local. We are dependent on our modest membership dues, admittance donations, revenue from the books we sell, small grants and donations. As with any business, we have overhead in the form of lights, heat and maintenance. Our dedicated all-volunteer staff enable the Museum to be open to the public six days a week. Volunteers also fix, clean and juggle tasks as the need may arise. Our support system has lessened over the years to just over 100 members on our rolls—We Need Many More. Support includes monetary as well as moral support in advertising the fact that we are here and open for the community.
Your continued financial support is especially appreciated now. Besides being beneficial tax-wise, it supports community enrichment. The Museum is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, so your gifts are tax deductible. Please consider a donation to the Museum today as well as the renewal of your annual membership. If you are not a member, we hope you will consider joining us. The Museum needs you. It needs your voice and your support.
Just as “many hands make light work” so too, do many supporters make this organization work
Thank You for your Support!
